Leeds United boss

Darren Bent has been left drooling over Mateusz Klich and named him as one of the best three Leeds United players this season.

The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he cannot put his finger on why the 30-year-old has impressed him so much but suggested he could “play a lot higher” than the Whites.

Klich has been a near ever-present for Leeds in the Premier League this season and made his 10th successive top-flight start against Everton on Saturday evening.

Speaking before the game, manager Marcelo Bielsa suggested the Poland international could “play in all the best teams in the world”.

Bent admitted he thinks the Leeds boss was being a bit optimistic with his assessment but insisted Klich was a top performer who could make the step up to a higher level if he got the chance.

Bent told Football Insider: Not only does he work hard, he’s got great technique as well, he can see a pass, I really like him.

“The thing is, you’ve asked me what I really like about him, I don’t quite know but I really do – he’s got good quality, he’s got an engine, he’s always trying to make things happen, he gets his fair share goals, he gets assists.

“So I’m not sure he could get into any team in the world, a top team in the world, but he certainly could play a lot higher up than Leeds because I think he’s got all the attributes and he’s had a very, very good start to the season.

“He’s been one of their best players; him, Kalvin Phillips before he had the time off and Bamford, I think they’ve been the best three that have really impressed me that Leeds team.”
