West Ham fans react to Nordtveit performance against Chelsea
By Will Butcher
West Ham fans have expressed their disappointment at new signing Havard Nordtveit following his debut performance in the team’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea.
The former Arsenal man started for West Ham on Monday night following his summer move from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mochengladbach, playing in a three-man midfield alongside Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate.
The 26-year-old made many unsuccessful passes throughout the match, as the Hammers’ midfield were outclassed by the likes of Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante and Oscar.
The Hammers lost to a last-minute winner from Chelsea’s Diego Costa, who fired a shot past goalkeeper Adrian from the edge of the box. James Collins had equalised for the Hammers after Eden Hazard had given the home side the lead from the penalty spot.
West Ham’s followers weren’t impressed with their new signing, who was replaced by Dimitri Payet in the 67th minute.

#whufc Awful first half. Just because Sam Allardyce is in the stadium no need to keep hoofing it. Nordtveit looks v. poor. Sort it out Slav

Nordtveit, Tore and Valencia are shocking. On the bright side – Adrian and Masuaku are having a fine game.

Nordtveit off after a miserable debut – awkward. Never saw the quality in him anyway #CHEWHU

Nordtveit, who has won 26 Norway caps, was a mainstay for Gladbach last term, making 39 appearances in both league and cup encounters. He also chipped in with four goals as the side finished in fourth in the Bundesliga.
Manager Slaven Bilic also gave debuts to summer signings Arthur Masuaku, Gokhan Tore and Andre Ayew.
In other West Ham news, this new signing is facing a spell on the sidelines after being substituted in the first half.
