Rio Ferdinand has criticised Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon after his mistake gifted Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman the opening goal at Celtic Park last night.

Celtic turned in a highly creditable performance against the German champions, despite going behind to that Coman goal.

However, led by the brilliant James Forrest, Celtic carved out a host of chances and it was no surprise to see Forrest set up Callum McGregor for the equaliser.

The joy was short-lived however, as Bayern quickly regained the lead thanks to a Javi Martinez header and saw the game out for a 2-1 victory.

Despite Celtic’s excellent performance, the former Manchester United centre-back pointed the finger at the Celtic number one.

“The keeper’s killed them really” said Ferdinand on BT Sport as quoted by the Sun after the game.

“There’s a foot race on and then he’s got to go past the keeper as well…the keeper’s kind of made it easier for the forward there.”

Celtic’s bid to qualify for the last sixteen of the Champions League is over but the battle for third place and European football after Christmas goes on.

The Hoops face PSG in Paris in three weeks then take on Anderlecht next month at Celtic Park.

Avoiding defeat against the Belgium champions would clinch a place in the Europa League for the Bhoys.

Celtic return to league duty against St Johnstone this weekend, as they attempt to set a new unbeaten domestic record of 63 games.
