'He will beat all the records' - Gary Lineker delivers verdict on Tottenham 23-year-old
By Harvey Byrne
Match of the Day host and former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has labelled current star Harry Kane as “phenomenal” and believes he’s got all the attributes needed to be successful.
The 23-year-old has risen to stardom for the north London club after making his debut for Spurs back in 2011 in a Europa League qualifying match against Hearts.
The academy graduate has managed a very fine return of 99 goals in 165 for Tottenham in total and this has seen his name placed among the best in the world by pundits and supporters.
Of those includes Lineker, who told that he believes Kane to “definitely” be England’s best striker at this moment in time and he told that he believes the forward can “beat all the records.”
“[Kane] is definitely the best English striker at the moment. He won golden boots two seasons in a row and he won it this season even though he missed eight games,” told Lineker to Goal.

“He’s phenomenal, he got all the attributes, he also got mental strength so I believe he will be the England’s striker for some time.
“About the records, it depends on injuries, whether he moves abroad, who knows. But, if he can keep his goal-scoring records per game like now, and if he stays, and if he stays fit, he will beat all the records. But, it’s never that easy.
“I think [England] are on the cusp of becoming competitive again. We have gone through a long time without having many world class players really.”
Legendary forward Alan Shearer currently holds the record for the most goals scored in the Premier League with a very fine 260 strikes bagged across spells with both Blackburn and Newcastle.
Current Manchester United attacker Wayne Rooney lies in second place in the goal stats, but he is still a massive 62 goals off Shearer’s record.
Kane meanwhile is sat on 78 Premier League goals and after winning two consecutive golden boots in the English top-flight he is certainly on course to beating Shearer’s goal tally and setting the record as his own.
