Hojbjerg will dazzle under Conte at Tottenham after unexpected reveal - pundit

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will thrive under Antonio Conte at Tottenham, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Spurs still need to bring in somebody to play alongside Hojbjerg.

According to the Premier League website, the midfielder has somewhat surprisingly given his team’s form made the most successful tackles (33) in the top-flight this term.

Everton’s Allan and Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell have also completed 33 tackles this season.

Hojbjerg has started both of Conte’s games in charge of Spurs alongside Oliver Skipp in midfield.

In the 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park the 26-year-old completed 88 per cent of his passes and won eight ground duels, according to sofascore.

He has not missed a minute of Premier League action for Tottenham this season.

“He’s definitely Conte’s sort of player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He runs hard, he tackles hard. I think he will be one that definitely gets a run of games under Conte.

“But I still think they need somebody in there with him. Conte likes midfielders who are tough tackling players but get on the ball and play. Hojbjerg can do that.”

Hojbjerg moved to Spurs from Southampton in the summer of 2020 and has now racked up 70 appearances across all competitions.

The Denmark international has scored four times and provided six assists for the London giants in that time.

He is under contract in north London until the summer of 2025 after he penned a long-term contract last summer.
