Hoolahan, who is a free agent after leaving Norwich at the end of last season when his contract expired, spent last week training with West Brom after being invited by Baggies boss Darren Moore.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that former Republic of Ireland international Hoolahan has done enough to impress Moore and is set to undergo medical tests on Friday ahead of joining on a free transfer.
Moore is looking to add more creativity to his side and is in the market for attacking reinforcements after failing in a loan deadline day swoop for Blackburn Rovers schemer Bradley Dack.
Hoolahan left Norwich this summer after 10 years at the club following his arrival from Blackpool in the summer of 2008.
The skilful attacker made 352 appearances for Norwich playing across the top three divisions in the country and earned legendary status amongst the club’s fans.
