Howe 'worse than Bruce' after latest Newcastle 'capitulation' - pundit
Newcastle United look worse under Eddie Howe than they ever did under Steve Bruce, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Newcastle “capitulated” to a 4-0 defeat to Leicester City at the weekend.
Speaking to club media after the game (12 December), Eddie Howe insisted the scoreline was “harsh” and there were plenty of positives to take from the game.
The result leaves his side three points adrift of safety going into the midweek games as they travel to Liverpool on Thursday (16 December).
“I want to say this about Newcastle, it’s alright when you’ve got 50,000-plus in St. James’ Park and you’ve got them on your side and they can get you through and get you a win against Burnley,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“You can’t just turn up against Burnley at home. Where was this new, energetic performance that everyone’s saying Eddie Howe would bring in?

“They look worse than they ever did under Bruce against Leicester. They capitulated against a Leicester team that can’t stop conceding and have played poorly. It was the perfect chance for Newcastle to upset them.
“You end up losing 4-0, it’s now real panic stations if I’m a Newcastle fan. You get battered 4-0, that’s not looking good going forward.
“You can’t just turn up against Norwich and Burnley just because you’ve got the home advantage. That home advantage will not work against the better teams.
“Newcastle United are in a lot of trouble. These next few games are going to hit their goal difference too so it’s scary times.”
