Hugo Ekitike: Everything Arne Slot revealed as Liverpool star stretchered off vs PSG
Hugo Ekitike has left Liverpool supporters extremely worried after being forced off against PSG with a potentially major injury.
Just as quickly as Arne Slot welcomed Alexander Isak back to the starting lineup at Anfield, the Dutchman has lost another of his dangerous attackers, possibly on a long-term basis.
The Reds were already without the likes of Alisson and Conor Bradley for the Champions League quarter-final second leg on Tuesday, 14 April, and matters may only get worse after being knocked out.
Liverpool’s injury issues have been a constant talking point during the 2025-26 campaign, and all eyes are now on what could be to come for Ekitike, with just a few games of the season remaining.

Having also played for the Ligue 1 giants, players from both teams were anxious about the injury-stricken player, who had hit the turf away from play at Anfield.
And Slot has not changed the tune around a potentially season-ending injury, speaking about the situation in a post-match press conference after the Reds were knocked out of the competition.
“It’s not too good. Let’s wait and see. In the second half, he went home. I’ve not seen him yet,” he said, in what seemed like an attempt to keep fears from bubbling over after the disappointing scenes.

Ibrahima Konate also added to the situation, saying, “I think it is bad. I don’t know, I have heard many things, I have no word to talk about that because with the World Cup coming, it is very, very hard for him, and I send him my prayers.”
Should Liverpool fans be concerned about Ekitike’s injury record?
In short, his previous injury record shouldn’t strike fear into the fans’ hearts, but this setback didn’t look the most positive of moments.
Liverpool had concerns over Ekitike before the game, and Slot will now be hoping that he left the Frenchman out of the starting lineup, especially if it turns out to be serious.
His last serious injury was back in the 2021-22 campaign, having missed 11 matches for club and country during his time at Reims. Since then, he’s missed a grand total of six games.
Isak’s return could not have come at a better time, but nothing will lift fans’ spirits after being knocked out of the Champions League.
