Hutton: Aston Villa already have another Grealish on the books who is 'unbelievable'

Anwar El Ghazi has the quality to emulate Jack Grealish at Aston Villa, according to Alan Hutton.

However, the former Villa defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Netherlands international needed to show his “unbelievable” talent on match day more often.

As revealed by Football Insider, Dean Smith has pulled the plug on Villa selling El Ghazi this summer after previously being open to offers.

The decision comes after fellow winger Trezeguet was ruled out of action for a year after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

El Ghazi has flourished since returning to the Villa XI, with goals against both West Brom and Everton.

Hutton, who played alongside the Dutch winger during his Villa days, insisted there was still plenty more to come from his old teammate.

“It’s a shame Trezeguet being out with a serious knee injury,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“That being said, that means there’s an opportunity for somebody else to come in and do well. Anwar, I think is a fantastic player. I played alongside him for a long time. My only gripe is sometimes we only see it in flashes.

I think he’s got the ability to show it more often. What is it, eight goals this season? It’s not a bad return in the league, is it? I think I’m just picking holes here. He has done well in big moments, but when you know how skilful and how good he actually is, you just want to see it more.

“He can be that guy, the way Jack Grealish is. Gliding past people, making things happen so I’m just being greedy. I just want to see it more often. You need to remember I used to train with him day in, day out.

“He was always up against me and he was always a nightmare to play against. He could take you inside, outside, he has an unbelievable shot, so I know how good he can be.”

El Ghazi has netted eight times in 23 Premier League appearances so far.

However, he has only started 12 times in the league this term.

The two-cap international has a total of 102 Villa appearances under his belt to date.
