Pundit delivers verdict on Bale re-signing for Tottenham after 'massive' Barnett update
Alan Hutton can’t see Gareth Bale returning to Tottenham next season due to the potential cost of a deal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs defender reacted to the most recent comments from Bale’s agent.
On 28th June, Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett told The Standard “there is no option” for Spurs to re-sign him next season.
Bale returned to Tottenham last summer but found himself on the periphery of the first team under Jose Mourinho.
He finished the season with a respectable 11 goals in 20 Premier League outings.
Hutton claims a move to the MLS may be more suited to Bale’s lifestyle despite an impressive Euro 2020 campaign with Wales.

“It’s an interesting one,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“He has one year left on his contract at Real Madrid and I can’t see him walking away from that.
“Is there a possibility he comes back to Tottenham? I don’t think so. Obviously the wage thing is a massive issue, we’re talking about 600 grand per week.
“I’m not sure it was the right move in the first place. It’s always difficult to come back and replicate what you have done the first time.
“We saw it in flashes last season. Looking at the reports, you see teams like LA Galaxy.
“Would that suit his lifestyle? I think that would be more attractive to him.
“We did see what Bale is capable of with Wales, he is still a quality player so there will be a lot of teams after him.
“The money thing will be the big issue.”
