Alan Hutton has insisted Leeds United are “definitely” one of the Championship promotion favourites despite a wobble in form.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, one of the stars of Aston Villa’s successful promotion campaign last season claimed Marcelo Bielsa’s side are well placed to go one better than their third-place 2018-19 finish.
Hutton explained that Leeds are a “massive” team with “good players” and have “everything” needed to secure a place in next season’s Premier League.
This comes after Leeds lost two and drew one of their last four Championship matches, including Saturday’s defeat at Charlton Athletic.
“They are definitely one of the best teams in the league this year,” Hutton told Football Insider. “A massive support, massive team, good
players – they’ve really got everything that they need to kick on.
“I’m surprised obviously that they didn’t do it last year but I think they’ll definitely be one of the favourites.”
Leeds led the Championship table for most of last season before falling by the wayside and collapsing in the final month of the campaign.
They lost their play-off semi-final against Derby County, who were beaten in the final by Hutton’s side Villa at Wembley.
Bielsa’s side flew out of the starting blocks again this season, winning five of their first seven Championship matches to head the table but their form is wobbling ahead of the visit of fellow big guns West Brom.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that senior players are finding teammate an “absolute nightmare” at Thorp Arch.
