Alan Hutton has revealed how the Aston Villa squad have been blown away by the training-ground performances of new signing Trezeguet.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 34-year-old who quit Villa in the summer after eight years explained how he has had excellent first-hand reports about the winger.
Trezeguet was among 12 new signings made by the Midlands giants in the summer after joining from Turkish club Kasimpasa for around £8.5million.
He has yet to score or assist in five appearances for his new club, all of which have come in starting XI but he has made an impact behind the scenes.
“All I’ve heard are good things throughout his spell at Villa so far,” Hutton told Football Insider. “All the boys in training have said how he is very quick, so he’s got the ability, it’s just a matter of time until he settles in and we really see the best of him.
“Obviously he would have been disappointed with the sending-off, but these things happen and his slide tackle wasn’t really a bad one.”
Trezeguet was back in the Villa side for yesterday’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal after serving a one-match suspension.
Hutton explained: “I think he (Dean Smith) put him straight back in for his pace, as you know against Arsenal you won’t have a lot of the ball, so the counter-attack is going to be a big thing for Villa, especially when going to places like that.
“So pace is how I believe Villa were going to try to hurt them, so it’s obviously between him and Jota, Jota technically good but Trezeguet has more pace so that’s why I think he came straight back in against Arsenal.”
In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that Dean Smith has given the green light for the club to sell one of his signings.
