Hutton makes Leeds transfer claim as Arsenal try to seal White deal
Alan Hutton insists Arsenal will not be overpaying for Ben White with the club close to agreeing a £50million–plus deal.
The former Tottenham defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed White could sit in the Gunners defence for the next seven years.
An Arsenal source has told Football Insider the club are close to agreeing a £50million deal for Brighton’s White including add-ons.
He has already indicated his desire to move to Emirates Stadium and is expected to finalise the move after the Euros have finished.
White is in the England squad but is yet to make an appearance in the competition.
Hutton claims Arsenal are getting a good deal for White and insists he can fix one of the club’s major problems.

“There’s always that additional fee to pay for a young English talent,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“He was outstanding at Leeds and went back to Brighton, from what I’ve been told, they refused to sell him back to Leeds.
“He’s versatile, we’ve actually seen him go into midfield and do a job as well.
“It’s an area where Arsenal need to improve. I always thought they had that mistake in them.
“Whether it be David Luiz or whoever, they always had that issue. White can play, he doesn’t want to just kick it and head it.
“It was £40million at the start, it’s now £45 plus add ons. I think that’s about right.
“He’s young, English and a very talented boy. I don’t think that’s far off the mark for someone who can slot in and could play there for the next five, six, seven years.”
