Hutton: Nuno may force Tottenham transfer U-turn after Winks reveal
Alan Hutton has suggested Harry Winks could fit perfectly into Nuno Espirito Santo’s Tottenham starting XI.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and Scotland defender insisted every team needs a tidy passer like Winks.
Football Insider revealed on 9 June Fabio Paratici was set to tell the £30m-valued star that Tottenham would listen to offers for him this summer.
That was before the appointment of Nuno and Hutton has suggested the new boss may have different ideas.
He told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “You always need someone like Winks in your team, in my opinion.
“If I’m Winks with a new manager coming in you sit and you think ‘What kind of football does he play? What style of player does he like?’ I always did that when I was at Villa and a new manager came in ‘Does he like attacking full-backs? Or, does he just want them to stay back? Does he play a back three?’ You figure all this out in your head.

“At Wolves, he did like to play with that midfielder who drops back, gets the ball and make things happen. He liked someone to keep the ball ticking around the pitch.
“I think there might be an opportunity for him but there’s a lot of players with the same opportunity. It’s down to the players who’s going to shine under the new management and take that opportunity.
“There’s a lot of players there that will be playing for their futures. They need a bit of a rebuild but there’s a lot of talent within the dressing room.
“It’s a big job for the manager but also for the players to show their worth.”
