Jacob Ramsey’s new Aston Villa contract should lead to younger brother Aaron committing himself to new terms as well, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Villa and Scotland star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed he had heard exciting things about the 18-year-old and suggested his brother’s success would drive him to try and impress even more.
Jacob signed a new deal running until 2025 last week, while Aaron’s current terms are set to expire at the end of the season.

However, The Athletic report the younger of the Ramsey duo is keen to tie himself down a new deal at Villa Park and follow his brother into the senior side.
Hutton has revealed many believe Aaron has the potential to outshine Jacob in terms of his talent and suggested his brother’s new contract would only act as motivation to get his own future sorted out.
“I think it’ll make him drive even harder, if I’m honest. I just think if I was a little brother and my big brother had just signed a new deal at Villa, the team I’m at, I want to be in that position,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“I’ve heard through different people that the younger brother has actually got the potential to be even better, which is a frightening thought.
“It would only drive me, you know the way siblings are like, they want to outdo each other in some ways, it’s as simple as that, it’s always been the case.
“I’m sure he’s got that aggression in him to show everybody how good he is and that’s only good for Villa. The brothers, they’ll push each other on, it’s always good to have that competitive nature between people so it’ll be good to see how it works out.”
While Jacob has played 14 times for the Villans’ senior side to date, Aaron is still yet to make his first-team debut.
