Hutton thrilled as Aston Villa close in on 'great signing' Tuanzebe

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe would be a “great signing” for Aston Villa this summer, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he would love to see the 23-year-old back at Villa Park.

As revealed by Football Insider on Monday (July 5th), Villa have been told United are willing to let Tuanzebe go if they are successful in their pursuit of a replacement.

That will come as a big boost for the Villans, who registered their interest in re-signing the defender in June.

Hutton, who played alongside Tuanzebe during his two loan spells at Villa Park, admitted he would love to see the United man return this summer.

“I think he’d be a great signing,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“I really liked him as a player but not just that, as a guy as well. He took a little bit of time to settle in coming from Manchester United to come into our group.

“Obviously he came through the levels at United so it took him a bit of time to adjust but when he did, wow. He had pace, he had strength, good ability on the ball.

“Not only could he play centre-half, he could play right-back so he fills a couple of positions. He’s very young and he’s going to get better.

“He knows most of the group, there’s been a little bit of change since he was last there but that wouldn’t be a problem. He knows the manager, John Terry, he can settle in quickly.

“Also, he knows the area. These things can help you to settle in. I’d really like to see that happen. I think he’s bringing quality into the squad, he is not there to make up numbers.

“He’ll be pushing to start and making a name for himself in a Villa shirt. It’s competition for places which is only good for the team.”
