Alan Hutton has tipped Keinan Davis to leave Aston Villa if he isn’t given the game time he needs.
The former Villa defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists Davis is a Premier League quality player.
Davis, 23, has found himself on the perifery of the Villa starting eleven this season.
He has made 12 top flight appearances so far this campaign but they have all come off the bench.
Hutton claims Davis needs more game time and he may seek a permanent move away from Villa Park to find it.
“I see enough quality to see him staying,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“The only question mark for me was if he can stay fit. Can he play for a prolonged period of time?
“I’ve seen him up close and personal and I know he has all the attributes to be a top player.
“It’s a conversation that he’ll have to have with the manager, if it’s going to be five minute appearances, that’s no good for him.
“At his age, he needs to be playing football. If he won’t get the game time at Villa next season he has to go out on loan.
“He needs to show everyone what he’s capable of, whether that be in the Championship or wherever.
“He’ll come back a better player and if he isn’t in the plans then, it’s possibly time to move on.”
Davis scored his first Premier League goal in they dying stages of last week’s 2-2 draw with West Brom.
He last featured on Saturday night but he only played a few seconds as a very late substitute against Everton.
