'I Love that' - Exclusive: Top pundit reacts to Radrizzani's Leeds transfer reveal

Darren Bent has backed Andrea Radrizzani’s plan to focus on summer signings at Leeds United.

The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Whites needed to solidify themselves as a top-flight side before splashing the cash on strengthening the squad.

Speaking to Sky Sports following news of increased investment from the San Francisco 49ers, Andrea Radrizzani confirmed the club had turned their attentions to the summer transfer market, rather than trying to strike any late deals this month.

The Whites are sitting comfortably in 12th during what is their first season back in the Premier League, with 26 points from 19 games under their belts.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men splashed out on signing the likes of Rodrigo, Raphinha, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch last summer and have not brought any new faces in this month.

Bent believes waiting until the end of the season is the correct decision from Radrizzani and suggested they would have no worries surviving in the league this term.

Asked if he thought Leeds were doing the right thing waiting until the summer, Bent told Football Insider: “I’m all for that, I think that’s really important, and I love that they’ve done that because it is a case of solidify yourself, first and foremost, in the Premier League.

“Don’t run before you can walk, just get yourself in there first, survive and then once you’ve done that, then you could build for the next season and then go from there.

“What you don’t want to do is start spending all this money here and there, loads of money, and then you struggle. I’m all well for it and I think they’ll be safe.

“Saying that though, I’m pretty sure they will be safe but after Sheffield United’s performance against Manchester United, I’m sure one or two teams at the bottom will be thinking: ‘Ooh, hold on a second.'”
