'I want to die', 'A joke' - Tottenham fans rage over Pochettino decision v Real Madrid

By Russell Edge

Tottenham fans have turned to social media to rage over the inclusion of defender Kieran Trippier in the starting XI for the club’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The club revealed their line up against Los Blancos via their official Twitter account, which saw Harry Kane included after having been ruled out of Spurs’ last two games with a hamstring injury.

Dele Alli makes his first European start this season having missed the opening three fixtures due to suspension, while there is also a return for centre back Davinson Sanchez, who was left on the bench for the Premier League defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

However it was the inclusion of 27-year-old Trippier, who replaced Serge Aurier in the side after the Ivory Coast international started at Old Trafford, which had the Spurs faithful up in arms.

The fans turned to Twitter to voice their frustration with manager Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to start the England man, as they predicted an easy night for Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Trippier has 11 appearances to his name across all competitions this season, but just one of those has come in the Champions League, providing an assist in the 3-0 win over Apoel Nicosia.
