'Wanted to take a few days to find the right words' - Exit-linked Spurs player says farewell
By Harry Sykes
Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has posted a farewell tribute to White Hart Lane as speculation mounts on his future at the club.
Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have suspended betting on the England international making a summer switch to Manchester City as speculation reaches fever pitch that he will sever his ties with Spurs this summer.
The Mirror reported on Wednesday that Chelsea are ready to join the £40million battle for the right-back’s services.
Walker, 26, has remained silent in recent weeks while he has been dropped for a number of big matches in favour of Kieran Trippier.
Walker was on the bench again for White Hart Lane’s final match on Sunday, the 2-1 victory over Manchester United, and he appeared to take some grass from the pitch as a memento after coming on late for Trippier, who had sustained an injury.

He then posted this video with his thoughts on the Lane, which is now being demolished ahead of Spurs’ move to Wembley for a season before they take residence at their new stadium.
“Wanted to take a few days to find the right words after the emotions on Sunday,” Walker wrote on his personal Twitter account. “So, here’s my little tribute to White Hart Lane.”

The video features a montage of images in both black-and-white and colour, including of Walker being embraced by supporters.
“It’s been such an emotional place to me, we’ve had some ups and downs, we’ve won some games and we’ve lost some games we should have won,” Walker said.
“The fans have always been there for us. I said at the start of the season, ‘let’s make it a fortress’ and to go a whole season without losing one game at home is a credit to the players, coaching staff and fans.
“There are some memories that go into the bank, there is not a single one I could pick out, there are loads, I would be going on for days.”
Bookmakers have made Pep Guardiola’s side odds-on favourites to sign Walker in recent days and Sky Bet are now refusing to take bets on the possibility, as quoted by the fan account City Watch.

Over the course of the season, Walker has played 39 matches in all competitions for his club, including starting 31 Premier League matches.
He was last named in the starting XI when Pochettinio’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat away at West Ham on May 5, which all but ended their title hopes.
