Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell thinks that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers could replace Arsene Wenger as the London club’s new manager, although he knows that a lot of fans would disagree with him.
It seems that the Hoops boss is not highly thought-off by Arsenal fans, but despite this Campbell thinks that Rodgers would be a success.
“I wouldn’t turn my nose up at Brendan Rodgers. I know a lot of Arsenal fans wouldn’t want Rodgers in, but he has learned from his mistakes at Liverpool,” Campbell said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“He has gone on to Celtic and done fantastic with them. Now he knows how to win. I don’t think he would be a bad appointment if he was brought in.”
Rodgers almost won the league with Liverpool in 2014, but after leaving the Anfield club he has went on to huge success with the Hoops, winning every domestic trophy he has contested so far.
Football Insider verdict
Arsenal fans really do have a bit of a cheek so vehemently being against the appointment of Rodgers, who has come far closer to winning the Premier League title in recent years than their team has. Thankfully for Hoops fans it seems unlikely that Rodgers is on the list to become the next manager of the Gunners, so he should still be in Glasgow for another season at least. It does seem likely that one day, in the fairly near future, that Rodgers will be tempted back to England, to have another shot at winning the Premier League, but he deserves better than Arsenal, who look to be a team in need of major surgery, and anybody taking over from the legendary Arsene Wenger is going to have an extremely hard act to follow, but luckily for the Hoops support it seems like the next man in charge is not going to be the Celtic manager.
