Ian Wright predicts Tottenham clash v Everton

By Derek Smtihson

Ian Wright has predicted that Tottenham will beat Everton when they travel to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs face an away clash against the Toffees as Premier League football resumes after the international break.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have made a modest start to the season with four points from their opening three games, with Burnley snatching a 1-1 draw in their last match.

The North London club have a great record against Everton in recent league history and are undefeated in their last nine meetings.

Pundit Wright has tipped Spurs to continue that run this weekend and pick up the three points in a 3-2 victory, which was the scoreline when the teams last met in March.

“This promises to be a great game and it’s the tale of two contrasting international breaks,” Wright told the Sun. “Spurs saw the likes of Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Dele Ali pick up some form and confidence during the break, while Wayne Rooney hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

“Fortunately for Spurs, Kane is now up and running and I can see him going on a long scoring run now. I’d back him to get the opener and I fancy goals in this game so I’m calling a 3-2 away win.

Everton are hopeful of forcing themselves into the top four spots this season and will see the Spurs clash as a good way to measure where they are at.

The Merseyside club strengthened considerably during the summer window and manager Ronald Koeman has been able to put together a new-look side.

Meanwhile, Spurs left their business late in the transfer window, but did add five new faces to their squad.

The fans will be hoping to get a glimpse at the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier and Fernando Llorente when they travel to Everton.
