Ianis Hagi may be "unhappy" at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender insisted Michael Beale will want to keep Hagi in his squad but won't be able to stop him moving if he is unhappy.

The 24-year-old's current contract at Ibrox runs until 2026 after signing an extension at the end of last year (2022) but he has struggled in recent seasons with injury problems.

As quoted by The Herald (3 June), Hagi's father and former Real Madrid and Barcelona star Gheorghe thinks the midfielder would be ideally suited to Scottish football.

But Hutton suggested Hagi won't have any problems if he chooses to stay in Glasgow.

"He is suited to where he is," he told Football Insider.

"It has been difficult for him, he has been out for a long period of time with a serious injury.

"Yes the Scottish Premiership is very aggressive, especially when you are away from home.

"The Spanish league, I have played in it I know what it is like, it is very technical, there is not so much contact. His style would of course suit that.

"It is a little bit slower as well and I think that is probably the one thing he is missing to make him that elite player, a little bit of pace.

"Of course it will suit him but I think Beale likes him and will want to keep him within the squad.

"It is different if he is unhappy. We will have to see after pre-season where his head is at."
