EXCLUSIVE By Harry Talbot
Defender Patrick Bauer is set snub interest from a number of clubs including Rangers to sign a bumper new deal at Charlton Athletic, Football Insider can reveal.
Bauer, who was Charlton’s hero with a last-minute goal against Sunderland last week in the League One play-off final, is out of contract this month and could leave on a free transfer.
An Addicks source has told Football Insider that Rangers, Hull City, Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic, QPR and Reading have all expressed an interest in the German centre-back, 26, after an impressive campaign.
However, Charlton are determined to keep Bauer and have pushed the boat out to try and tie down the captain to a new deal at the Valley.
Charlton boss Lee Bowyer sees Bauer as a key part of his side going forward in the Championship next season and feels he is instrumental to his plans.
The defender has established himself as a big fans’ favourite since joining Charlton in 2015 from Portuguese side Maritimo.
Securing him on a new deal would come as a massive boost for the Addicks as they prepare for life back in the Championship next season.
