Rangers coach Peter Lovenkrands is growing more and more excited about the current crop of youngsters at Ibrox, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Gers and Scotland star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, revealed that the Dane, who is an academy coach at the club, keeps telling him how promising the next generation of players are.

Hutton, who played alongside Lovenkrands at Ibrox, has revealed that there is a feeling of expectation surrounding the hot prospects in the blue half of Glasgow.

"Peter's always telling me how excited he is about the players, getting the experience of going abroad and getting to play in all these different cup competitions," Hutton told Football Insider.

"It's looking bright, there's not been too many over the years that's come through so I think this crop, the excitement's building about them and hopefully we can see more of them in the first-team."

Gerrard has made use of a number of promising talents during his time as Rangers manager, the likes of Nathan Patterson, Josh McPake, Kai Kennedy and Lewis Mayo all featuring in first-team squads this season.

The Light Blues are still competing on three fronts, with Wednesday's win over Braga taking them to the last-16 of the Europa League.
