Ibrox exclusive: Hutton urges Rangers to swoop for in-form attacker after reported development
Alan Hutton urged Rangers to swoop for Charlton Athletic attacker Lyle Taylor after it was reported that he had rejected a new contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Gers defender shared he thought it was time the Gers made a move as there will be plenty of competition for Taylor.
It was recently reported that the 29-year-old had rejected a new contract with Charlton, so with time running out on his current deal, they’re open to offers for him in January.
It was previously claimed that Steven Gerrard’s side, along with West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday, were keeping tabs on Taylor’s situation.
Hutton shared that he rated the Charlton forward and even suggested he could be a potential replacement for Alfredo Morelos if the Colombian ends up leaving Ibrox in the summer.
When asked if Rangers should swoop for Taylor now and grab themselves a potential January bargain, Hutton told Football Insider: “Well, I think it’s time.

“He’s said no to the contract so in his mind, he is looking for a new team, but there will be a lot of people after him.
“He’s a good player, he’s done really well for them, so I can’t imagine Rangers are the only ones in for him, so they’re going to have to act quickly.
“We’ll obviously see in the coming weeks, we don’t know what will happen with Morelos in the future, possibly a summer move.
“So he’ll be looking to get someone in and get them into the way Rangers think and the way Gerrard wants them to play.
“So I rate him as a player, he’s a good player, so he could be a good fit for Rangers.”
Taylor has been in red-hot form this season as he has scored seven goals in 13 outings and has even racked up one assist.
The attacker has experienced Scottish football before as Taylor previously had spells with both Falkirk and Patrick Thistle.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have offered a contract to a West Ham rising star who is on the verge of January transfer.
