Jackie McNamara urged Celtic trio James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Mikey Johnston to try to exploit Rangers defender Borna Barisic if he lines up on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Parkhead hero acknowledged that Barisic had done well going forward but was still suss at the back.
The 27-year-old Gers left-back missed the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen in midweek with a foot injury but could feature against Neil Lennon’s side on Sunday after returning to training.
McNamara suggested that Forrest, Christie and Johnston were all capable of getting at Barisic and also claimed that Tavernier was also defensively suss on the other flank.
When asked if Barisic potentially returning for Rangers against Celtic was a big boost, McNamara told Football Insider: “I think he has done okay going forward like Tavernier, he has put in some good balls and in the last few weeks, he has popped up with a few assists.
“Obviously I’d like to see him go the other way, whether it’s Forrest, Christie or Mikey Johnston getting at him, as I think that’s where his weakness lies.
“Bit like the other side, Tavernier you know?”
Barisic has played 21 times across all competitions for the Gers this season, scoring two goals and registering 10 assists in the process.
The left-sided flyer has been at Ibrox since joining from Croatian club NK Osijek in 2018 and is contracted to stay with the Gers until 2022.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have been handed a huge January transfer boost by Premier League club.
