Jackie McNamara has been left raving over the performance of Rangers winger Ryan Kent since his return to fitness.
The former Celtic and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that Steven Gerrard will be delighted to have the summer signing back from injury.
The wide man missed a number of games at the season with a hamstring injury but has returned as a first-team mainstay for the Light Blues in recent weeks.
Having seen the 23-year-old score a brace against Hamilton and set up Alfredo Morelos with a cross against Feyenoord, McNamara says that the Gers man is looking close to his dazzling best once again.
McNamara told Football Insider: “He looked very sharp (v Feyenoord), coming in off the left-hand side, creating the goal too. He looks stronger.
“Aye, they’ll be very happy to have him back to have him raiding up and down the left. The crosses (for Morelos) were good, they were two great headers. The first one, there’s not too much pace on it but he put it in the right area.”
Kent, who returned to Ibrox permanently after his loan spell last season, now has two goals and two assists across his nine appearances this season.
He won the SPFA’s Young Player of the Year award for his performances during the 2018/19 campaign, with six goals and six assists in 27 Premiership games.
Ahead of Sunday’s game against Hearts, the Light Blues sit level on points with table-toppers and fierce rivals Celtic, the Hoops ahead on goal difference alone.
In other Rangers news, a Football Insider pundit has been blown away by one development at Ibrox this season.
