EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick is on the verge of joining Blackpool after completing a medical, Football Insider can reveal.
Alnwick is well down the pecking order at Rangers behind Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham, and manager Steven Gerrard has given the green light for him to head south of the border.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the keeper, 26, has already undergone a medical with Blackpool as he puts the finishing touches to his transfer.
A number of Football League clubs have made enquiries this summer about signing Alnwick, but the League One outfit have moved quickly to agree a deal with Rangers for the shot-stopper.
This comes after Football Insider revealed at the end of last season that the club were set to offload Alnwick ahead of the upcoming campaign.
He spent 2018-19 on loan at Scunthorpe United, where he was a mainstay of the starting XI and made 43 appearances in all competitions.
New Blackpool boss Simon Grayson had made a new goalkeeper one of his top priorities after returning to Bloomfield Road and he has landed his top target in Alnwick.
The Englishman has made just 11 appearances for the Light Blues since signing from Port Vale for £300,000 in January 2017 when Mark Warburton was the manager.
Alnwick has a contract with his parent club that runs until the summer of 2020.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that more than 10 clubs are trying to sign Rangers senior player now valued at £10million.
