Ibrox Exclusive: Rangers set sights on two players from cash-strapped English club

Rangers have turned their attention to Bolton Wanderers duo Ronan Darcy and Dennis Politic, Football Insider can reveal.

The Glasgow giants are among a group of clubs alerted to the potential of the teenage attacking pair.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers have scouted both of them this season and will run further checks during the season.

This comes after Football Insider revealed earlier this week that striker Darcy, 18, was on their radar as well as that of rivals Celtic.

Rangers are also keen on his winger teammate Politic, who is being monitored by Premier League duo Aston Villa and Wolves.

Winger, Politic, 19, has been fast-tracked into the Bolton team this season and taken advantage of the many opportunities handed to the club’s young players during their financial crisis.

He has made a strong impression for the third-tier outfit, scoring against Rochdale and Bradford in the cup competitions during his 11 appearances.

Significantly, the Romania youth international has kept his place in the side even after cash-strapped Bolton signed nine players on deadline day last month.

Darcy has also come through the youth ranks at Bolton and been fast-tracked into the first team.

He has made eight appearances in all competitions this season and scored his first senior goal in a 5-2 defeat at Rochdale in the League Cup in mid-August.

Both players benefitted from non-league loan spells last season, with Ormskirk-born Darcy at non-League side Skelmersdale United and Politic at Salford City.

Bolton now face a fight to keep hold of the in-demand pair, especially with Rangers able to take advantage of cross-border rules on compensation costs.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that Celtic want to blow them away and block bid to take English-club striker to Ibrox.
