Rangers are ready to send Glenn Middleton out on loan next season to accelerate his development, Football Insider understands.
The winger, 19, made 29 appearances for the Light Blues in the recently-completed season and was playing regularly up until the winter break.
But he faced a spell out of the team after his breakthrough and was demoted to the reserves for the final months of the campaign.
An Ibrox source has told Football Insider that manager Steven Gerrard and his staff are weighing up a 2019/20 loan for Middleton, most likely back south of the border.
The teenager was signed from Norwich City in January of last year and has proved to be one of the shrewdest signings made by recruitment chief Mark Allen.
He made a big impact at youth-team level before seizing his opportunity for the seniors and became a big fans favourite with his performances in the first half of the season.
He scored five goals and supplied five assists from 29 appearances, including a memorable performance in the 4-3 Europa League defeat in a thriller at Spartak Moscow.
Rangers are set to consider loan offers for the Scotland Under-21 international once they have recruited some new attacking players.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have scrapped plans to sign 23-year-old permanently due to the stunning emergence of an Ibrox man.
