Chris Sutton believes that Brendan Rodgers will demand that Celtic spend big money in the summer to stretch further away from Rangers.
The Gers have made a gamble in appointing Steven Gerrard for his first managerial job, and Sutton, as shown by Football on BT Sport’s Twitter account, feels that the Hoops boss will expect that money is spent on improving the squad in the summer transfer window.
“Celtic will spend. If I was Brendan now, I would spend, I’d put my foot down and say you aren’t going to touch us. We’re going to put you away, we’re going to put you to bed”, Sutton said.
"People talk about Rangers being a sleeping giant, they've been out for the count for years.

The Hoops do seem to be miles ahead of the Gers at the moment, but football can change very quickly and Rodgers will be expecting his team to push on next season.
Football Insider verdict
A lot of Celtic’s spending in the summer might well come down to who leaves the club, rather than any appointment that Rangers have made as their new manager. There are doubts about the Hoops futures of Tom Rogic, Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong to name but three, and if all those very important players departed than fans would demand that money is spent to bring in replacements, as those players have been key parts of the Bhoys’ recent run of success. The Hoops board don’t usually react to what the Gers do, and it is highly unlikely that they will do so on this occasion, it will instead be about improving the Hoops side to give them a chance of competing in Europe, and filling in the gaps if players decide to move on and leave in the summer. Either way it is sure to be an interesting summer in Glasgow.
