'Idiot' - Dean Windass hits out at fan after Josh is slammed for Rangers display v Celtic

Hull City legend Dean Windass has leaped to the defender of his son Josh after he was slammed for his performance in Rangers’ 3-2 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday.

Josh Windass scored the opening goal for the Gers when he made the most of a mistake by Dedryck Boyata to stick the ball past Scott Bain in the away side’s goal.

However the 24-year-old was pretty quiet for the rest of the game, leading to one fan showing that he wasn’t happy with the ex-Accrington player on Twitter.

That prompted his father Dean to hit out at the fan on his personal Twitter account, calling him an “idiot”.

Josh Windass has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals and supplying eight assists.

Windass did not have the best of games against Celtic, but his goal is still something that will give him a lot of confidence for the rest of the season, especially with a Scottish Cup semi-final against the Bhoys coming up. The 24-year-old attacker has looked like a new player under Graeme Murty’s leadership and has put to bed this idea that he doesn’t believe in himself. In Old Firm games, players have the rare chance to come up against players who are equal to their quality or better. Windass has been bossing it against lesser opposition this season but he was just nullified by the likes of Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham. There was no disgrace in his performance.

In other Rangers news, this £1.3million Gers player should be binned in the summer as his performance against Celtic was the final straw.
