Frank McAvennie is baffled by Neil Lennon pandering to Celtic wimps who may not like his methods.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the Parkhead legend urged the unfit Hoops stars to shape up or ship out.
He can’t believe the condition of Leigh Griffiths, who has not started a league game since 7 March.
Griffiths has made seven appearances across all competitions this season, but his only start has come in the Europa League against AC Milan.
Speaking last week, Lennon, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, said that the striker “needed to be fitter” if he wanted to break into his side.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Griffiths’ situation, McAvennie said: “I would have Griffiths in my team every week.
“Lenny said that he has got to get fit but surely that is the job of the coaching staff. I know for a fact Lenny used to take boys running if they were not fit enough. He used to take them on runs.
“Why is it not happening now? Has the game changed that much? He did that the first time he was there. That is his way.
“He is coming out with all of these words and that is not Lenny. I would say do not change to fit your players. If they don’t like it, get rid of them.
“The fitness coaches are clearly not doing their job. Stop saying, ‘These players are not fit.’ Get them fit.”
