Ilkay Gundogan may be set for Man City U-turn after latest twist - pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Ilaky Gundogan to make a U-turn and sign a new contract with Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Gundogan’s heroics on the final day (22 May) means he will stay at the Etihad.
The 31-year-old was introduced from the bench in the 68th minute with City 2-0 down to Villa and scored twice, including the winner, to seal a 3-2 victory and the title.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this month (16 May) that the Germany international is set to leave the club this summer with a year left to run on his current contract.
As quoted by the same outlet last week (21 May), Pep Guardiola insisted he did not want to lose Gundogan who was his first Man City signing back in the summer of 2016.
Asked whether he thought Gundogan would quit the club, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I don’t think so, no.

“There was the same sort of talks about Bernardo Silva last summer.
“After what he’s done, especially in that last game, I cannot see Gundogan going.
“Next season you need more players. Man City are losing Fernandinho already so they won’t want to lose another midfielder.
“I don’t believe that. Gundogan will be there and sign a new contract.”
Gundogan has scored 49 goals and contributed 33 assists in 253 games across all competitions in his six years at City.
This season he has made 43 appearances across all competitions, including 20 starts in the Premier League.
