'I'm still in the group chats with the boys' - Exclusive: Hutton drops Villa training HQ reveal
Alan Hutton has revealed the Aston Villa squad are “absolutely buzzing” ahead of their crunch clash against Sheffield United on Wednesday.
The former Villa and Scotland full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has lifted the lid on the mood around the club after keeping in touch with his old teammates.
The Villans, who have 10 games left to play this season, restart their campaign with a home tie against the Blades on Wednesday evening.
The Villans currently sit 19th in the table, two points clear of safety with a game in hand over their relegation rivals.
Hutton admits he is feeling a little nervous ahead of the game but has revealed that there is a sense of excitement at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground.
Asked how he was feeling ahead of Wednesday, Hutton told Football Insider: “A bit of excitement, a bit of nerves – it’s obviously such a massive game, it’s the game in hand so it’s huge, really, for the first game to come round.

“No fans is going to be interesting but the whole world is going to be watching this game, the first game back in a long time. The players will probably feel a little bit of pressure but the excitement will be there of getting back to normality.
“I’m still in a lot of the group chats with the boys and stuff so they’re absolutely buzzing just to get back to some sort of normality and feeling nice and fit and looking forward to the weekend games.
“It’s going to come round thick and fast, they play every few days so it’s going to be difficult, it’s a challenge that they’re looking forward to.”
Villa lost 2-0 to Sheffield United in the reverse fixture back in December with John Fleck netting a brace for the Blades.
Dean Smith’s men were involved in the last game before the season was suspended as Leicester City cruised to a 4-0 win.
In other Aston Villa news, Hutton has revealed a senior star will be “annoying” Dean Smith ahead of Wednesday’s game.
