'Incredible' - Exclusive: Top pundit delivers Leeds verdict after Bruce reveal

Marcelo Bielsa will be “delighted” with the way Leeds United sealed victory over a stubborn Newcastle United side, according to Michael Brown.

The former Leeds midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted there were questions over the Whites’ ability to break down defensive sides but that the “incredible” points return prove they have been successful so far.

Speaking after Tuesday’s game at St James’ Park, as quoted by the Shields Gazette, Steve Bruce revealed Bielsa had been “very complimentary” about the Magpies and admitted the home side deserved to take something out of the clash.

The win means at the halfway stage of the campaign, Leeds sit 12th in the table with 26 points under their belts.

Brown admitted it has been a remarkable return to the Premier League for the Whites and that the players silenced a lot of doubters with their performance against Newcastle.

Brown told Football Insider: I think Marcelo Bielsa will be delighted to get another three points in the Premier League.

“He’ll be delighted and I think what he’ll be most impressed with is what Steve Bruce said afterwards, he said his team did well and battled.

“Questions were asked if Leeds United could find a different way and Newcastle were really really tight, lots of shots, lots of efforts from Newcastle and Leeds saw it out.

“There’s a long way to go and it’s a big ask in the Premier League just looking at the league table, 26 points for Leeds United, I mean that just tells you everything I think. At the halfway stage, I think it’s a great return.

“All you can look at is the return of points at the halfway stage, for everyone involved it’s been incredible.”
