Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed that goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is out and that Bailey Peacock-Farrell could be in line for a start against Wolves on Wednesday night.

Heckingbottom was talking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against the league leaders Wolves.

Number one keeper Felix Wiedwald has come in for sustained criticism for his performances recently and Heckingbottom had hinted before that the position was between him and veteran Andy Lonergan.

However, Heckingbottom confirmed Lonergan's injury and said it had come at a "bad time" for us.

He has admitted that the goalkeeper position is one that he's looking at and also confirmed that Lonergan was not fit for the Wolves clash.

Asked if he would play the youngster in the Wolves game, Heckingbottom said that he "would not hesitate" to play the former if he was needed.

Heckingbottom went on to say that Wiedwald knows he has made mistakes and that he still has a future at the club saying that he can come through this run of bad form.

Football Insider verdict:

This is the biggest hint yet that heckingbottom is set to make a change in the Leeds goal. The Wolves game would be a massive test for Peacock-Farrell though and we'd imagine that he'll stick with Wiedwald for one more game. If that doesn't work out and Lonergan is fit for the next game then Peacock-Farrell might have to wait a bit longer. If Lonergan is still out then we could see Peacock-Farrell getting his chance against Reading on Saturday.
