Mathieu Debuchy will still be allowed to leave Arsenal this month even though Carl Jenkinson has been ruled out for the rest of the season, Football Insider sources understand.

Jenkinson's second season-long loan at West Ham abruptly ended on Tuesday when it was revealed that he has torn his cruciate ligament and will not play again in 2015/16.

It had been speculated that the English right-back could be recalled to Emirates Stadium in the January window to provide cover for Hector Bellerin if Debuchy left.

But an Arsenal source has told Football Insider that was never an option for the Gunners as there is no recall clause in his West Ham loan deal.

Nevertheless, Debuchy has been given the green light to leave on loan this month and has several options on the table.

An Arsenal recruitment source has told Football Insider that the Villa deal is the most advanced after Arsenal accepted the Midlands club's offer of a loan fee of £1.2million.

Debuchy is concerned about Villa's position at the foot of the Premier League table but recognises he needs regular first-team action to guarantee himself a place in Didier Deschamps' Euro 2016 squad.
