Everton forward Henry Onyekuru will undergo a scan this weekend after suffering a knee injury in Friday's 1-0 win against Eupen while on loan at Anderlecht, according to a reliable journalist.

HLN reporter Kristof Terreur claimed on his personal Twitter account on Saturday morning that Onyekuru, 20, overstretched his knee while playing against his former side in the Belgian Jupiler League and as a result had to be stretchered off the field.

It is understood that the Nigeria international will undergo a scan in order to reveal to full extent of his injury blow.

Onyekuru was signed by Everton from Eupen in the summer but due to work permit restrictions, the wide-forward was sent back on loan to Belgium with champions Anderlecht.

In Brussels, the Toffees loanee has scored 10 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions and also got a taste of playing in the Champions League in a group that contained Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Celtic.

He has been in great form as of late but in the 77th minute on Friday, Onyekuru was forced off the field with a knee injury that could be quite a bad one considering how much pain he was in.

After Boxing Day, Anderlecht enter the winter break and their next fixture will be on 21 January, so Onyekuru's blow perhaps comes at the best possible time for the Belgian giants.
