Darwin Nunez is in line to be fit for Liverpool against Brighton after the international break following a new assessment by the club's medical staff, sources have told Football Insider.

The striker was forced to withdraw from the Uruguay squad before their international friendlies due to hamstring issues.

However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that this was just a precaution and he is not expected to be out for an extended period.

He has been assessed by Liverpool's medical team and they are confident there is no significant issue and, following a period of rest and rehabilitation, he will be in contention for their Premier League showdown with the Seagulls on 31 March.

Darwin Nunez to be fit for Liverpool after international break

The 24-year-old played the entire 120 minutes of Liverpool's recent 4-3 defeat in the FA Cup against Man United on Sunday (17 March), where it is believed he suffered his latest muscle injury.

Nunez is now set to miss Uruguay's friendly against Ivory Coast and an exhibition game against the Basque Country.

He recently missed the League Cup final against Chelsea as well as the Premier League clash against Luton Town and the FA Cup fixture against Southampton due to injury.

Nunez has become an increasingly influential player for Jurgen Klopp's side this season, providing a dynamic edge to the attack, which has brought him 17 goals and 14 assists in all competitions.

His haul includes 10 Premier League goals as well as eight assists in the competition.

Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table and were most recently eliminated from the FA Cup after their sensational clash with the Red Devils.
