Man United handed injury boost as 'warrior' set to return to training
Ruben Amorim has received a major boost to his squad as one star is finally set to return after months on the sidelines.
It has been a positive week for Amorim after Man United beat Liverpool 2-1 to make it back-to-back wins for the first time in his tenure.
Amorim eased the pressure on his future at Man United, with the Red Devils now just a point off the European places ahead of their match against Brighton next.
The Portuguese boss may now have a clean bill of health in his squad following an update on one injured player.
Lisandro Martinez set to return to Man United training
Argentine centre-back Lisandro Martinez has been out of action since suffering a knee injury against West Ham in February.
The Daily Mail, [21 October], now report that Martinez could finally be set to return to full training.
"Lisandro Martinez is expected to join his team-mates in full training this week after making a more cautious return to action than originally planned," the Daily Mail reported.
"Martinez was due to be fully integrated with the first-team squad last week as the remaining players reported back from international duty, after scans gave his injured left knee the all-clear.
"As it turned out, the Argentina defender – who has been sidelined since early February with a ruptured ACL – was only partially involved with the rest of the group, but is set to step up his training this week and should make a return to first-team action before the international break next month."
Martinez earns praise off Liverpool legend
Jamie Carragher once described Martinez as a "warrior", as per the Metro, and the combative defender has been a miss for Amorim this year.
