Serie A side Torino are interested in signing Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic, according to a report.
Sky Italy journalist Gianluca di Marzio has claimed on his website that the Croatian defender has been lined up as a replacement for Nikola Maksimovic, who is on the verge of a £20million transfer to Napoli.
Maksimovic will either partner or replace Kalidou Koulibaly, who, according to the London Evening Standard, has been the subject of a £42million Chelsea bid.
Centre-back Simunovic joined the Scottish champions from Dinamo Zagreb last summer for £6million, but he hasn’t played since January due to a serious knee injury.
The 22-year-old played 18 times in the first half of the 2015-16 season for Celtic and earned high praise as the club began their bid for a fifth consecutive title.
Having won the Scottish Premiership last season, they are now bidding for their six straight title but face stiff competition with Rangers returning to the top flight.
Celtic have made a number of signings this summer including Moussa Dembele and Kolo Toure, then most recently Scott Sinclair.
Sinclair arrived from Aston Villa on Sunday morning on a four-year deal, and scored the winner in Celtics league opener against Hearts on the same day.
Rodgers had been desperate to set up a third reunion with the former England under-21 international after working with him at Chelsea and Swansea.
In other Celtic news, a defender has completed his move the Hoops settled terms.
