Rangers are interested in bringing right-back Alan Hutton back to Ibrox this summer, according to an insider of the Scottish Premiership outfit.
EstConsultancy, a solid source of information on all things Light Blues, made the claim through their Twitter feed and when asked about the club’s potential transfer signings from a fan, in respect of the Aston Villa defender, EstConsultancy claimed there was “interest.”

The 33-year-old is out of contract this summer at Villa Park and could end his career at Ibrox, where it all began for him.
Hutton has been a mainstay in the Birmingham club’s pursuit of the Premier League this season but has recently fallen foul of a thigh injury and has been sidelined since February.
The right-back made a brief comeback against Hull City in March but is expected to return soon for club’s assault on the play offs.
Football Insider verdict:
This wouldn’t be a long-term move from Rangers if they pull off the capture of Hutton but it will certainly be one to give the position some steel and experience. James Tavernier is the current number one choice in the position and after only signing improved terms in February, it’s unlikely he will make way for Hutton’s arrival. So if the 33-year-old does arrive at Ibrox this summer it would be with the expectation of being as a back-up. However, after also playing for the Championship side on the left of defence he can also offer a deal of versatility which will be an attractive asset to any prospective incoming manager.
