West Ham are set to submit an official bid for Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson “very soon”, according to a club insider.
Twitter account ExWHUemployee, who has established themselves as a reliable source of inside information on everything regarding the Hammers, has claimed that the club are set to make an imminent offer for the 23-year-old enforcer.
Yep again it suits both parties as it means transfer fee is low but helps shift some of those players at us with high wages that other clubs may consider! Offer for Mawson is expected to go in very soon ⚒ https://t.co/Hpf3BFxoN6

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for the Swansea defender in the build up to the January transfer window, with manager David Moyes said to be prioritising the capture of a powerhouse centre back in the new year.
Mawson, an England under-21 international, has been a stalwart for the Swans this season, appearing in every minute of the club’s league games during the current campaign, with a total of 48 Premier League appearances under his belt.
Football Insider verdict
West Ham, as well as all the other Premier League sides, are set for a busy January both on and off the pitch, with the Hammers having six fixtures across the league and the FA Cup. As such, they will be wanting to bolster their squad as quickly as possible when the January window opens, and that means submitting bids sooner rather than later. It may make them appear desperate but when their top flight safety is on the line, they are willing to pay the price. Mawson is clearly the club’s top target but with Swansea also battling for survival and potentially unwilling to sell to a direct rival, they may have to look elsewhere to strengthen.
In other West Ham transfer news, one of the club’s stars has been named as a Premier League giants’ top target in a £40million-plus swoop.
