Insider: Rangers agree deal for fourth summer signing, medical scheduled

Rangers have agreed a fee of around £2.75million for Brighton centre-back Connor Goldson, according to a club Insider.

The Four Lads Had a Dream blog, a solid and reliable source of Rangers news, led with the claim on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier they had claimed that a Scottish Sun report that said the fee agreed was £3.5million was untrue and “vastly inflated”.

Goldson will now head to Glasgow for a medical and to agree personal terms with the club.

Football Insider verdict:

Goldson may become the fourth summer signing for Rangers. We say that because it is expected that the deal for Liverpool youngster Ovie Ejaria will be announced soon too, and he could beat Goldson to the punch. Personal terms should be no problem for Goldson, who had his heart set on a move to Rangers. However, everyone will be hoping the medical passes without a hitch, after Goldson underwent heart surgery in 2017 and was out for nine months. He made his comeback quicker than expected and the medical should be fine. If the fee reported this time is correct then it will be an absolute steal for a player of Goldson’s quality.
