Insider reveals chances of Tottenham beating Everton to Souttar signing after latest

Tottenham would have to sell one of their centre backs if they wanted to sign Harry Souttar from Stoke City.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

The Stoke Sentinel (3 October) reported Tottenham have scouted Souttar with The Sun also recently reporting interest from Everton and Inter Milan.

Souttar, 22, has been ever-present during Stoke’s impressive start to the season, only missing their opening match of the campaign.

The Australian has impressively racked up seven appearances for his country and has remarkably scored six goals in those outings.

Wenham admits Souttar will appear on Spurs’ scouting list but doubts the club will make a move.

When asked if Tottenham would be interested in a player like Souttar, Wenham told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild, “On paper, yes.

“I imagine Tottenham have looked at him, but where does that leave Joe Rodon?

“He’s also a young, talented centre half with the only difference being he’s Welsh. He ticks all the boxes.

“He came in as the player to buy from the Championship. A big strapping lad bought for a decent sum of money,

“Signing Souttar would be almost writing off Rodon so it’s not one I can see personally.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if his name came up on Tottenham’s scouting list. We have a very good record of buying hungry players from the Championship.

“On this one, it would be detrimental to Rodon if we signed Souttar. We also signed Romero in the summer so we have plenty of depth there.
