Insider: Rodon tipped to join Brighton in January after major Tottenham development

Joe Rodon could join Brighton on loan in January as he continues to struggle for game time at Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Rodon, 23, has only made three appearances for Tottenham this season.

He has started both of Tottenham’s UEFA Conference League games and made one substitute appearance in the Premier League.

However, he failed to make the bench for his side’s win over Newcastle at the weekend.

Wenham insists Rodon, who joined Tottenham for £15million including £4m of add-ons, will be assessing his options and claimed a potential move to Brighton could be revisited.

“What does the future hold for Rodon now?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The January transfer window is coming up and Rodon is a player who just can’t get a look in.

“That’s also under several managers so he will be assessing his options ahead of the window opening.

“I think he’s been unlucky with Tottenham now favouring Tanganga as the sort of back-up defender.

“He can play in two positions and counts as home-grown so he has that edge.

“There are natural advantages there. It’s frustrating that Welsh players don’t count as home-grown in Europe.

“Rodon will be asking himself if he should be playing week in, week out in the Premier League, the answer is probably ‘yes’.

“He may look at a loan deal, there were reports over the summer that Brighton were interested in him so that’s an option.”

In other news, an insider claims two other Spurs players could leave in January.
