Insider: Tottenham starlet Cassanova set to join Derby permanently after development
Dante Cassanova has been told he won’t be receiving a professional contract at Tottenham.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
As revealed by Wenham on Sunday (23 January), Cassanova, 17, played for Derby as a trialist during Saturday’s game against Leeds Under 18s.
The midfielder has made nine appearances in the Premier League 2 this season, providing two assists.
He has also featured in the FA Youth Cup but Wenham insists a professional deal is not forthcoming for the youngster.
“Academy second-year scholar Dante Cassanova has gone on trial at Derby,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He played for their Under 18s as a trialist in a game against Leeds at the weekend.
“The fact he’s on trial at Derby, he’s been told he’s not getting a pro contract at Spurs. He’s been told he can leave, basically.
“He’s exploring other options and that’s absolutely fair enough. We have other players like Samuel Amo-Ameyaw who are coming in and starting Under 18s ahead of him.
“Tottenham are doing the right thing in letting him have the chance to find a new club.
“He’s a can play in midfield or right-back and hopefully he can get that contract at Derby.”
As per Tottenham’s official site, Cassanova made his debut for the Under 18s in January 2020, while still a schoolboy.
He will leave Spurs after making 28 appearances for their Under 18 side.
