Insider: West Ham to offload duo in January, Moyes to make final decision

West Ham are set to sell young duo Reece Burke and Josh Cullen in the January transfer window as David Moyes looks to run the rule over the pair, according to an insider.

Twitter account ExWHUemployee, who has built up a reputation of being a reliable source for inside information about the Hammers, has claimed that the midfielder and defender are likely to be sold after returning to the club from their respective loan deals in January, although the final decision will fall to Moyes.

Central midfielder Cullen, 21, has been on loan at Championship side Bolton Wanderers for the first half of this season, although after appearing in the opening nine games has struggled for game time.

Meanwhile 21-year-old centre back Burke was also shipped out to the Trotters, but like his club team mate, has struggled for game time in recent weeks after starting the season in the first team XI.

In terms of action seen for the senior side at West Ham, Burke has 12 appearances under his belt while Cullen has four.

David Moyes will have been keeping a track on the youngsters’ progress since joining the club, but January will be the first time he really gets to see what they can offer the club in the future. They have both struggled to have made the desired effect at the Championship side, but with their loan spells coming to an end another departure may well be on the cards next month. Whether that is permanent or temporary will be up to Moyes, so they will have to impress in training if they want to secure their futures at the London Stadium.

In other West Ham transfer news, the club are eyeing up a trio of defensive powerhouses as they become front runners for their top target.
